Reclaimed Grade A Oak Hardwood Sleeper (Polish)

These are reclaimed grade A Polish oak hardwood sleepers, recycled railway sleepers that have come out of service sound and usable. Grade A means the timber is in good condition and free from rot, strong enough for stacking, building retaining walls and the general run of garden and landscaping work.

Each sleeper is 2600mm long, 250mm wide and 150mm thick, and weighs around 55kg. They share the dimensions of the grade A+ German oak sleeper but come in noticeably lighter, so if you’re handling and positioning sleepers by hand they’re a bit more manageable, while still being a solid oak sleeper that holds up outdoors.

Because they’re reclaimed, each one shows its history. The sleepers will have bolt holes or metal bracing where the rails were fixed, and may carry some damage or slight wane along an edge. For retaining walls, raised beds and edging that character usually adds to the look rather than detracting, but it’s worth picturing if you’re after a clean, uniform finish.
