This matters because colder weather means you’ll need more heating and cooking fuel. Running out at the wrong time is something every household wants to avoid.

We understand the common worries families have at this time — sudden cold snaps, rising heating bills, and delivery delays caused by the weather.

Calor Gas Deliveries Prioritised Due to Cold

With the recent cold snap and snow forecast, demand for Calor Gas has surged — many homes rely on it for heating and cooking. The need for gas bottles and cylinders is higher than usual as colder weather settles in.

So, Harringtons is prioritising Calor Gas deliveries over other products for now. Our top priority is to make sure you stay warm and your cooking stays uninterrupted.

This means deliveries of less urgent items, such as water-softening salt, will pause until Monday 5th January. We apologise for any inconvenience, but ensuring homes stay warm during this first cold snap is our main concern.

Throughout this busy period, we remain committed to providing reliable service.

Delivery Details and Service Commitment for Winter 2026

We deliver across many local postcodes around Reading including RG, SL, plus parts of GU, HP, OX, and TW.

For most products, there’s a delivery charge of £3.25, with orders typically arriving within 2 to 4 days. For Calor Gas deliveries, a £5 fee applies, and these orders get priority, especially during snowy weather.

If you’d like extra convenience, you can upgrade to next-day delivery for £9 or same-day delivery for £15, where your postcode qualifies. This mainly covers zones RG1 to RG10 and SL1 to SL8.

Please remember, deliveries run Monday to Friday only; we don’t deliver at weekends or on public holidays, so it’s best to plan orders in advance.

As noted earlier, deliveries for less urgent items like water-softening salt will resume on Monday 5th January.
