Harvey’s Block Salt

Harvey’s block salt is the standard block salt for Harvey water softeners and many other block-fed machines. It’s a pure block salt with no additives, made in England, and it comes as a pack of two 4kg blocks, each roughly the size of a house brick, with a carry handle to make them easier to lift.

Using block salt is straightforward. The block sits in about a centimetre of water in the bottom of the salt tank and dissolves slowly from the base. When it has reduced to about a third of its original size, you simply place another block on top, so the machine never runs short of salt. That steady, gradual dissolving is part of what makes a block-fed softener so low-maintenance. The one thing to get right is the format: block, tablet and granular salt aren’t interchangeable, so this is for block-fed softeners only.

There’s a minimum order of 10 packs on this product, and the per-pack price falls the more you order, as low as £4.90 a pack. The minimum order is simply the smallest order we deliver. It isn’t the point at which the lowest price applies. Worth knowing: Harvey’s has recently re-branded its packaging, so a new bag may look different from your last one, though the salt inside is the same.
