These are reclaimed grade A+ German oak hardwood sleepers, recycled railway sleepers that have come out of service in good, sound condition. Grade A+ is the best of the reclaimed grades, which is the part worth knowing if you’re comparing options: the timber is very sound, free from rot, and strong enough to rely on for stacking, building retaining walls and plenty of other garden and landscaping uses.

Each sleeper is 2600mm long, 250mm wide and 150mm thick, and weighs around 70kg. That’s a serious piece of oak.
