The 15kg Calor butane gas bottle is the larger of the butane cylinders, and it’s the one to choose for bigger portable heaters or steady indoor use through winter. If a smaller bottle has you swapping too often, this size buys you more time between refills.

Butane suits indoor and milder-weather use, which is exactly where this cylinder earns its place. It’s most often run with portable gas heaters fitted with a 21mm clip-on butane regulator, keeping lounges, workshops and offices comfortable when you’re off the mains gas grid or need extra warmth in a room the central heating never quite reaches. At roughly 58cm high and 32cm in diameter, it gives a long run of gas while staying manageable to position indoors.

Butane does struggle in the cold, so it’s a poor match for outdoor or unheated spaces in deep winter. If you need gas that works outdoors or in low temperatures, propane is the better choice and we can point you to the right bottle.

It’s supplied as a refill on a like-for-like exchange. You’ll need an empty 15kg Calor cylinder to hand over on delivery, or you can add a Calor cylinder deposit if you’re starting out. Leave regulator fitting and ventilation to Calor’s guidance or a Gas Safe engineer rather than guessing.
