Pub Gas CO2/Nitrogen (70/30 Mix)

From: £22.50

This Harringtons drinks dispensing cylinder is a 70/30 mix, 70% nitrogen to 30% CO2, blended for dispensing ales, stouts and similar drinks. It’s a 10-litre bottle aimed at home brewers and low-usage customers, so it suits a home or hobby setup rather than a busy commercial cellar.

The blend is the key. Ales and stouts want a lower CO2 proportion than lagers, and the higher nitrogen content gives that smooth, creamy pour you associate with a well-kept ale or a nitro stout. If you’re dispensing lagers or running a soda machine, the 60/40 mix is the one for those instead.

One thing to know on refills: we can only exchange Harringtons cylinders, so we’re not able to accept other brands for swap. We deliver across our defined Reading area, so check your postcode is covered, or call the yard on 0118 9242888.

This Harringtons drinks dispensing cylinder holds a 70/30 mix, 70% nitrogen to 30% CO2, blended for dispensing ales, stouts and similar drinks. It’s a 10-litre bottle, pitched at home brewers and low-usage customers rather than high-turnover bars, so it fits anyone running a modest setup at home.

The mix is what makes it right for these drinks. Ales and stouts don’t want the heavy carbonation that suits a lager, so the lower CO2 proportion keeps them from over-fizzing, while the higher nitrogen content gives that smooth, creamy head and pour. It’s the difference between a flat-feeling pint and one that looks and tastes as it should.

For lagers and soda machines, where you want more carbonation, the 60/40 mix is the right cylinder, so it’s worth matching the gas to what you’re serving.

The one thing to keep in mind is the exchange policy: we can only exchange Harringtons cylinders, so we’re not able to accept cylinders from other brands for swap. If you’re setting up for the first time, get in touch and we’ll talk you through it.

Should I get the 70/30 or the 60/40?
